Michael Thompson’s indie author journey began at age thirteen with the publication of his action-packed Chicken Boy series.  Since then, he has spoken on numerous panels, podcasts, and programs to both readers and aspiring authors alike, his poetry was recognized in the International Writers’ Digest Writing Competition, and his books are bestsellers in independent bookstores across the country.

His debut YA portal fantasy novel, World of the Orb, received five-star praise from Readers’ Favorite and national acclaim in the Feathered Quill Book Awards alongside his folkloric fantasy sea epic, Winslow Hoffner’s Incredible Encounters, a tale which blends his trademark humor and dynamic character ensembles with his longtime fascination with cryptids, folklore, and legends of the deep.

Michael's most recent publication, Winslow Hoffner's High-Sailing Adventures, returns readers to the enchanting world of Winslow Hoffner with witty characters, gripping mystery, and fast-paced storytelling decorated by such myths as the Loch Ness Monster and other awe-inspiring legends of cryptozoology.

From writing and illustrating, to voice acting and filmmaking, Michael's storytelling manifests in diverse mediums while sharing the theme of plunging ordinary characters into extraordinary situations, with emphases on adventure, humor, and heart.
